June 21 Central Market Cooking School

A little oregano, some basil, a bit of ground veal and voila a masterpiece. My bolognese sauce is born. It helps to have a glass of Chardonnay during dinner too. I never knew you could make sauces with Vodka. DA? Stay turned for the next cooking experience and stop by some time for some grub...

The Morning Star just a short swim off of Highbourne Cay in the Exuma Islands Bahamas. This was our only trip to land in 6 days of diving. I don't know if you can pick out the 28 other people on that boat but they are about one every 2.6 feet.edit

Living on the Edge

May 14, 2010.

Man Fish. Nothing like a tight rubber suit to make a man feel like well....a ballet dancer I guess. Diving again is one of the things on the list to get going again. Now it's started. I'm not going to blog everyday but often about things that kind of push the limits of my daily life. Some good and some not so good. Well, lucky for me, they are almost always good.

What could be better than loads of sun and weather and water on Lake Travis in Austin. Not much really. Parado's Law says you should spend most your time on things that bring you the most success and happiness.... Wise man I think.

Ciao from the Man Fish

Back in the River.... By Miles

Hello my dear friends,

I'm back as Jack would say. It's been a crazy adventure over the last few months. I have relocated to Austin and the world is on fire. I have not posted anything in some time. It's good really because I have had a bunch of things to get in order. Some good and some not so good. Now, they are done.

I will not be posting a photo a day for awhile but something similar will be back. I want to post life photos of things going on around me and of people that I meet along the way. "My Life, one photo a day" was a great project but amazingly hard to execute. The lessons learned from "My life, one photo a day" will never be forgotten and I hope to share some of these with you as we move down the road.

It's amazing being back in Austin. There is so much energy here. I left almost 14 years ago. Much has changed here but this is home to me and I guess it always will be no matter where I am. So By Miles is coming back. You will start seeing video, photos, and art from "BY MILES" again. There will also be video and short form from the deck of the "Slow Dancer".

So please spread the word that Austin is about to "Go Live".

Ciao,

Miles

November 23, 2010. My life, one photo a day

One of my favorite places in Austin is tucked away on the Western edge of the hike and bike trail. It's Lou Neff Point. An old stone picnic structure where Barton Springs drains into the Colorado. This place without question as the best view of downtown. Go on a cool clear night with a bottle of wine and enjoy. Miles

There is something strangely beautiful about a rusted truck with a few large bore bullet holes in it. I guess it's just a Texas thing. MIles

The Doctor is in. Well, at least for the pig trachea that is. This is my airway management course at the Texas EMS conference. It's strange to say it is fun to do surgical airways on pigs but it really is. Unfortunately, the pig didn't survive and we didn't get to make any sausage.... maybe next year. Miles.
