100,000 miles, 97 days of hotel, 102 days in a rental car. 101 bags of almonds, *** glasses of cheap white wine, and lots of bitchy flight attendants. Travel for 2009 is over. Safe journey my friends, we are all travelers to somewhere.

Remember practicing your cursive in school. How long has it been since you found an empty piece of snow white paper and the perfect pen? You know, just the right size and weight of ink.... Occasionally in this Keyboard world of ours it's settling to put pen to paper... I've been doing it for over 20 years, someday I will have to go back and read that mess.

Check out the site, some new photos up this weekend. Pass the blog along. I hate to live alone...

If you travel enough.....it always comes up to bite you. A 5 hour delay on a 2 hour flight. Travel during the holidays should definately be avoided. Trust me on this one. We were on the plane for about an hour....Thank god for the Passenger bill of rights.. This is the view from the front...maybe the only view of the plane I will get today..

It's a silly game really, a bunch of grow men running around in shorts trying to hit a little yellow ball over a fence. That said, it makes perfect sense its been part of my life for a long time. I'm trying to get back into it after a long break. I mean break too. Ribs and swine flu shackled my tennis buzz for awhile. The only thing missing from this photo is frustration, humiliation, a hottub, and enough advil to choke a garbage eating goat.

My LIfe, one photo at a time

Sometimes one seemingly small thing sets off a chain reaction of events that leave you breathless, confused, and often pissed. That was my morning today. It also made me realize a few things about myself. This morning I thought I didn't give myself enough time to get to the airport in Houston, even though I was only a short distance away. The alarm went off and I jumped out of bed and into the shower. Rushing like a madman still asleep.

At Hertz, I realized I left my phone at the hotel. As we all know, life is over without the phone, death is a slow withering process when you are faced with the prospect of being "offline".

Contents of the photo

Rental agreement- I had to rent a new car to go back and get my phone

Elite Priority bag tag- showing how important I am. 42 minute wait on Platinum line to find out the next two flights were booked.

Key- new key to get back into room

Phone- need I say more

Wallet- 67.24 lighter as a result of rushing.

I realized how the pace and crazy life of Houston had pullled me in when I was racing back to get the phone with no hope of making my flight. The emotions associated with this race were amazing. The occasional hope that I could possibly make it was awful. It created this horrible stress and the sense of rushing was maddening. The only relief was the traffic jam that dashed my hope and made me relax. Up and down the whole way.

This only to find out that I had misread my departure by 15 minutes and made my flight. The cuban OJ was good but the skin off my mental ass was significant.

Lesson: The things we do to ourselves should never exceed the things the world really does to us.

Hello all,

Happy holidays to all of you. It's been a crazy couple of weeks for me. I went to vegas and had a wonderful time with Denise and my great and dear friends David and Paula. Well and Harry the dog of course.

Then Canton and the flea market. It was Densies's first Trade Days. Very spectacular really. Bought a few items for the Villa Hilla and then off to the street dance. Nothing like dancing with a bunch of women in 20 degree weather.

Lot's going on in the Arts and sciences for BY MILES. Stay to tuned to Miles on Fire .com and all that happens after...

Greetings from the fire

Howdy all,

I in the studio "NOISE" and working on some images. My friend the aussie musican Aldo is gearing up next door for the "Big Show". The "Aldo Leopardi" Band is awesome. They are playing downtown tomorrow night at "CASSELMANS BAR". A great venue and it's going to be a fabulous show. They come on at 10PM so get a ticket and don't miss it.

The new project is underway, the 40 and over beauty project has a name. Yeap, it's a rough one but one I think most will remember. "PRETTY BITCH". It will be moving forward quickly and there are some big things planned. I think you will be seeing it all over the place in the future.

There is so much beauty around it boggles the mind. That beauty is both inside and out. It has become very clear to me over the last few weeks.

Enjoy my favorite PRETTY BITCH LD

LIVE NOW, you never know what tomorrow will bring.

Hola

Some crazy stuff going on. I have a big Platinum 90 test shoot on Sunday. Lots of photos in a very short amount of time. It's work but fun to see some new faces trying to break into the business. Alex with Plat 90 is rounding them up and I will be shooting them down.

Planning some Guatemala trips for the coming months. I will be exploring the mountain towns and doing some textile shopping for the Villa. Of course I will be shooting some video and stills of the mountain weavers I find. Stay tuned.

I have enclosed a photo of the Junk Diva.....right, I love the Villa Hilla

Check out the site for some new stuff.

Greetings from the field. It's been awhile and I know I promised a few more posts. Sorry, I will do better. Things have been so busy and crazy over the last few weeks. I've had to cancel my trip to the mountains of Guatamela this week. I managed to go mano a mano with the pig flu. We went the distance but I prevailed.

Halloween was a blast at the Villa Hilla. A new coat of paint and some groovy colors made the difference. How about Seaside Blue and Cherry Red. Yeap, it's a "wild thing". The truth is that I'm a terrible painter and will have do a bit more to get it right. Still the Halloween Mariachi was singing on the porch. Met lots of new folks and took a few pictures. Yes, it's amazing how many friends you have when you give away tequilla....

I had a great morning shoot with Liddie. It was cold and rainy right untill she left. Then the sun came out and it was fabulous. Check "Liddie in the robe" in face on the site.

Pictures of the crimp will be on after the next market. The mysterious Heidi also had a few pictures and will be a subject for next month I hope.

See the photo of my neighbors on the mountain. Crazy group of people. Come by and see me at 45 Lazy Daz lane.

More later.

Burningman 2009

All,

I didn't write much about Bman this last post. This year was overall a fantastic year. Not as hot as last year but I think overall more dusty. Lots of evening dust. My cameras are still covered in it and my truck looks like I just got back. The crap never comes off even with water. Oh well, nothing like a battel scar..

I am posting a few shots here and will be loading a bunch on the website. Come have a look. Next year is the year of the trailer for sure. More booze is also needed along with more trinkets. The notebook is full of stuff.

NEWS: I will be booking the hotel Masionnave in a couple of weeks to get set for next years bull run? Who's in?

Check out the site for more news and new photos.

Back in the saddle again

Hi friends,

It's been so long since my last post. So sorry. I've been on deaths door for a few. 5 broken ribs from a Vespa accident. Not my fault and they stole my Chinese food. Watch it, it's a jungle out there.

Before that I had an extraordinary time at BURNINGMAN. What a wonderful time. And a million thanks to my new adopted home....Camp Fiasco from Montrose Colorado. Thanks Stickerman. Take a look at the photos.

There is a ton going on. I spent me first weekend at the "Taj Mahill" the new name for the Canton, Texas Bungalow. What a fun time. Looking at putting up lots of art and doing a book on the place. All I have to do is keep handing out free booze and food.

I found some of the lost photos from my pin up shoot in the early summer. They were early in the shoot and aren't the best work but the models were amazing and it was pretty unlifting to know that I was such a slacker than I didn't format all of the cards.

I'm back trying to get my project going for women over 40. They are without a doubt treasures.

So enjoy the photos and I promise you will live the dream with me. Right...but I do promise to be relentless in posting.

Pimping the Crib

Greetings from the World HQ of By Miles. I have been somewhat diligent in my work on the bungalow. A bit crazy to have a place a thousand miles away from where I am supposed to live but..... I consider myself a citizen of the world.

This really is the best photo stop I have found. I will be putting together a few workshops here and can't wait to get going on some model shoots here not to mention getting dirty in the flea market.

Long drive back to Denver starting tomorrow. Some photo ops along the way I just feel it.

Stay tuned for before and after photos. Right now just before.

Magic in the Barrio

The last night in Seville has turned out to be the best. I found a part of the city that had escaped me. The Plaza de la Alianza is near the old city walls. On the east side of the Jardin de Alanzcar. What a magical place. The heavy old stone walls border the walkway around the passages. The street lights are dim and dance off the cobblestone. There are two or three magnificent places to eat or just have a glass of wine along the way.

the weather is perfect. Cool and a slight breeze blowing. People are happy and couples are kissing in the corners of the dark streets. In the Plaza de la Alianza, there is small fountain with a little green film along the top. Romance is everywhere.

So, my thoughts for tonight are

1. Don't take a moment for granted.
2. Never give up on anything
3. Make someone happy
4. Do only the things that make you happy.

Vaya con dios from Santa Cruz.

Live from Seville

Hola,

My last night in the barrio. Back to Madrid in the morning. Then home the next day. What a great trip. I will come back to Seville and stay here again in the Barrio. Today I found John Fultons on studio and home. He was the first and only I think, top level American matador. It's a great story so look it up. A friend of mine was also a great friend of his, Ray Mouton. He as a wonderful book out on Pamplona. "The Bulls, Bars, and Barrios of Pamplona". Get it on San Fermin.com.

The Run was a dangerous one this year. One death, the first in 15 years and many bad injuries. Maybe there is just too many people in the street now. Certainly, too many who do not have any idea what they are doing or how dangerous it is. I raised my glass for Daniel Jimeno Romero on Friday night. He was the young Spaniard who died in the street that morning. We salute you.

I will be blogging on another site soone also. More of a travel type site with photos and lots of stuff. All free of course. Stay tuned for the link.

Question: Why do the tiny flies of the barrio only swarm around me? I even showered today. It's frustrating to see the locals enjoying there wine and me flighting for a breath from the monsters. Information would be appreciated.

Vaya con dios,

Miles

Oh What a Ride

Greetings from Pamplona. The weather is great, the women are beautiful, and the wine is tasty. So far the runs have been excellent. Very clean and fast. Only one major injury so far. Tonight I"m will be trying to score some bullfight tickets and take a few photos.

San Fermin is an extra ordinary event. There are people of all ages here. The very young and the very old. The crazy energy of young people in their 20's is like nothng in the world. The beauty of the Spanish women is also beyond compare. It must be something in the water.

I will be leaving tomorrow for Madrid and then on to Seville for a few days. I"m looking forward to a rest and doing some writing while having a glass of wine in the barrio Santa Cruz. I will try to spend a little time getting to know the barrio and stealing a few images.

Until Next time,

Miles

LIve From Madrid

HOLA,

Having a crazy time here in Madrid. Very amazing people here. I still don't understand how people here get by. Nothing in the city gets going until around 11 pm. It stays running until about 4 am and later. It sure makes it tough to get going before noon. I managed to hit Madrid during the gay pride week. See the goddess in the photo.

Early day tomorrow because it's the train to Pamplona. I will run on Tuesday and get into the groove from there.

Some video is going to follow as soon as I can figure out how to download it.

On the Horns

Hello Gang,

Leaving day after tomorrow for Madrid. I am really looking forward to some Europe time. A few days in Madrid and then on to the run in Pamplona. After the run, I'm heading to Seville on the bullet train. I'm going to hide out in the barrio Santa Cruz, the old Jewish quarter of Seville. No plans just taking it moment by moment. Looking forward to stealing some images from the barrio.

I will be posting almost everyday I can from the road. Look for the pictures on NOISE this blog, and facebook. Join me as a friend.

By Miles Lives

Hello All,

It's final up and the email is working. Holy shit. The bludomain company is not worth much. Don't go there. Find the place that has tech support that will answer the phone. These guys told me that they had so many tech calls they got rid of the phones... nice.

Now its finally back to photography. Got a shoot this weekend. A pin up shoot. I love the old style high key lighting.

Working hard on the 40 and over project. It's going to take off because we all know the most beautiful women on earth are the women of experience.

More later. Stay tuned.

It's UP

Boys and Girls,

It's finally up. Come on it and take a look at the site. There will be tons more on this site and the sites it will link to. Texas School is ok. The classes are limited in some ways. I am in a class with a great portrait photographer from Fort Worth. Gabriel Alonzo. Reallly a master of his craft this guy. It is inspirational to meet a guy that is so professional and a student in his craft.

Thanks to all that helped and picked out some of my fotos. The rest is coming so be ready. Stay tuned for some awesome photos from the Blink project and women of experience. It's going to be great,

Wondering about Bludomain

Whow....my site still isn't up. I have been battling with Bludomain for some time now. It just shouldn't be this hard. I don't know if anyone has has a similar experience with this company but it's frustrating.

The "By Miles" logo is being redone too so look for the new one soon. You will also be seeing more pieces of art on the site shortly. I will be packing for Texas School soon and will keep you posted on what I see.

Some Great Model Talent out there

Whow,

Shot photos all weekend of some gorgeous ladies. I had the please of shooting Playmate Carlie Champagne here in Denver. What presence in front of the Camera. I will throw a few shots of her up on the blog later today.

Another hot lady actually came from Texas and grew up in a little town with my relatives... My cousin taught her High School english. If she could see Bobbi Lynn Taylor now.... Amazing girl with a great future in modeling. Nothing like a Texas Beauty.

There was also a stunning exotic model there named Paula. Tall and oriental in some features, very interesting. She is new to the game but was catching on quick.

If you would like to contact these ladies let me know and I will pass it on to them. A reminder, they are very professional and do great work so let's remember that.
